Daily Routine, According to Saint Baba

One should wake up between 4:30 and 5:00 in the morning. Thereafter, Pratasmaran, morning hygiene, and bathing should be completed by 6:00 AM. At six o’clock, facing the rising sun, one should perform sun salutations (Surya Namaskar). After completing rituals according to your own tradition, perform a manas puja to your beloved deity. All of this should be concluded by 8:00 AM.

Following this, one should commence their daily worldly duties. While engaging in work and interactions, the principles of Achar Sanhita should always be kept in mind. In the evening, precisely at 6:30 PM, one must consciously detach from all worldly affairs. If any unfinished business remains for the day, it should be attended to the next morning after 8:00 AM.

At 6:30 PM, after washing one’s face, hands, and feet, the mind should be directed toward solitude. Until 7:30 PM, if possible, one should calm their mind (vrutti or thoughts) and study the nature of the true Self. During this time, prayer, contemplation, or remembrance may be practiced, but solitude must be assured. After 7:30 PM, household duties should be attended to—caring for children, ensuring harmony in the home, and fulfilling responsibilities with love and dedication.

Between 8:00 and 9:00 PM, a light meal or fruit should be consumed. After 9:00 PM, one should engage in reading sacred texts or listening to spiritual works (bhajans, chants, discourses, etc). This should be completed by 10:00 PM.

After 10:00 PM, one should lie down in a relaxed posture (Shavasana) to calm the mind. If sleep arrives, one should drift into slumber while chanting the divine name. Otherwise, after 15-20 minutes, one should sit in their designated place of worship, take prayer beads (mala), and immerse in deep meditation.

This daily discipline should be adhered to with determination. Additionally, in moments of leisure, one should engage in solitude as much as possible and dedicate some time to reflecting on family well-being, engaging in constructive activities, and participating in spiritual gatherings (satsang)—acts that bring peace and fulfillment/contentment.

Things to Follow During Worship (Puja):

  1. There should be a dedicated place for worship, and the rituals should be conducted there.

  2. More than external decorations, the divine idol should be adorned in a way that captivates and immerses the mind and heart in devotion.

  3. Apart from a single oil lamp and incense, unnecessary materials should not be placed in the temple in front of god.

  4. After completing the worship, one should recite the Aarti dedicated to Saint Dnyaneshwar.

  5. Finally, give an offering (Tirtha Prasad) and recite Pasaydan.

After Pasaydan, one should reverently consume the Tirtha Prasad, bow in humility, and conclude the puja.
